The Wheel of Fortune and the Seven of Cups

Wheel of Fortune, Reversed. By Flux Arcana. Bottom Rail on Top. I dig the monster illustration, and now that it's on top, it’s coming for you. I wonder if the Wheel of Fortune is the only card on which a reversal doesn’t matter. The whole concept is that fortune, life, and everything else function on a cycle. What is terrible today may be excellent tomorrow, but beware what was may come again. A reversed Wheel, especially tied with the reversed Seven of Cups (who is looking away from the Wheel), tells you that the cyclical nature of life is blocked. The wheel is broken. Now, if you landed on top, that might be fun, at least for a while. But remember, all the stories of human growth come from some kind of conflict. Hanging out at the top won’t get you anywhere. What if Siddhartha Gautama never left his palace, or Luke never left his farm on Tatooine?

The Seven of Cups, illustrated by Lisa Hunt from the Pride Tarot, is all about decisions. There is a central figure contemplating all of their choices arrayed before them. In this version of the Seven of Cups, the figure isn’t even looking at the options; they're overwhelmed by the choice. Since the card is reversed, the hesitancy is blocked, so this card is about deciding. You need to build the energy and clarity and make the call.

If you are feeling blocked and the rhythm of life feels disjointed, now is the time to dig and find out why. You need to decide on something. Build the energy and clarity to make the call and remember that a good decision (or even a decision) today can be better than a perfect one tomorrow. Do what analysis you can, but don't drown in it. You have to choose, whether you want it to or not, so get deciding.
