The Hermit, Page of Wands, and the Chariot

The Hermit by Lisa Sterle. I looked this one up in my notes: it's the first time it appeared in a spread for me. The Hermit is a card about internal reflection. Not necessarily about being alone, per se, but about withdrawing from the world and reflecting on it. It is an opportunity to explore the spiritual path.

The Page of Wands, again by Lisa Sterle, is almost the polar opposite of the Hermit. You’ll note they are looking away from each other. The youthful exuberance of fire energy. She is the keeper of the spark that lives within all of us. The urge to love recklessly, and fully, and also to make mistakes.

The Chariot by Xaviera Lopez. The will to succeed, to tie together opposing factors (like the sphinxes below). There are no reins, just the driver’s will. You’ll note that this success is incomplete; their legs are encased in concrete. Thus, the use of their will to control the world around them has only gotten them so far. Wills eventually fail; you can hold it all together right now, but what happens 5, 10, or 15 years from now?

I may be tempted by external validation, but it will not be “complete” or fulfilling. Plus, it requires so much energy to hold together. The real message is to look inward for answers. It is time to consider what success (materially and spiritually) looks like. What would happen if you choose to let go, instead of exerting your will?
