Strength and Death

Sometimes letting go is the hardest thing to do.

There is so much emotion in this version of Death, I can’t look away. The personification of Death is the psychopomp that guides us to the final destination and what if they cared for us just as much as our families do? What if this Grim Reaper, like a great ancestor, empathised and screamed with pain at every one of our deaths? I find it comforting that, through the eons of human existence, there has been someone who has cared and grieved for everyone.

Yes, the Death card is change, but this change is intense and painful. This is the mourning Death. Within that grief, we will cling to what we lost. But, whatever it is, it’s dead and no longer helps in the way we need. It is time to work toward letting go. Death screams at Strength for support.

Strength is the person who conquers through compassion. The Lion, our animalistic (and often brutal) nature, is conquered by love and compassion. Inquire into your feelings, and try to hold them in a place of genuine understanding. Compassion for yourself will often get you further than shame or harsh discipline.

In short, change is coming (or here, you might not know it yet), and you must rely on your empathy and compassion to see you through as you slowly let go of the patterns, thoughts, and behaviors that no longer serve you.

I need a drink after this one.

Strength is by Cat Rocketship, from their Skeleton Tarot, and Death is by Heanuli for the Wandering Spirit Tarot, but I got it from the Allyman’s Booster Pack #3.
